Smokey Bacon and Jalapeno Dip
Here’s a fun recipe for New Years Day that you don’t have to feel guilty about! Payoff is everything you need to feel like you’re cheating but you’re not! I hope everyone had a fun and safe night last night! Here’s to 2012!
SMOKEY BACON AND JALAPENO DIP
1/2 cup low fat cheddar, shredded
1/4 cup Real Bacon Bits
2 T jalapeno, finely chopped
2 T red bell pepper, finely chopped
1 T green onion, chopped
2 T fat free cream cheese
2 T fat free sour cream
1/8 t liquid smoke
1/4 t garlic powder
celery sticks
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl and pour into an 8 ounce ramekin. Bake at 450 for 20 minutes. Serve with celery sticks.
Serves 2

That looks great!
Im new to this, Could you tell me what phase this falls into?
well, i classified it as a PV recipe (Protein Vegetable-which would fall in cruise) but it’s really borderline. there is so little vegetable in it and onion is allowed, as well as peppers, that i wouldn’t feel guilty eating it during cruise, or on a Pure Protein day of Cruise. Problem is, what are you going to eat it with? chicken fingers? i guess that would work!
I just made this and flavors are fantastic! It is funny but I am so enjoying having the spiciness in things right now. Can’t seem to get enough heat!
that’s me too. i can’t have enough hot sauce right now! it’s so satisfying. especially with protein.
Ok, so I was really craving Jalapeno Poppers the other day (I really am in a spicey mood)! So I took the dip mixture and sliced fresh jalapeno’s in half lenghtwise, and put about 2 tsp of the dip into the jalapeno shells and baked them in the oven on 350 degrees for about 15 to 20 minutes(they were lightly browned and bubbly.) They were incredible!
that sounds wonderful! i think i’ll post that under your suggestion!! i’ll let you know when i plan the post so you can see it!!

That receipe sounds so delicious but isn’t the fat content of low fat cheddar still too high for the Cruise phase? And can you use smoked bacon bits rather than the bacon bits and the “liquid smoke”?
well, i followed the UK diet since it wasn’t here in the us yet. the rules on lowfat dairy were different there because they really don’t have fat free over there. it worked for me. you’ll have to make that decision for yourself. you can always substitute fat free where you can find it!! you can use whatever bacon, but try to make sure it’s real bacon. either turkey or real. the real bacon bits by the salad dressing in the store is really low in fat.
