OK, so I warned you I was on a crazy Chinese Food kick. Ever since I found the new Asian market in my neighborhood, I’ve been back twice, and all I want to make is Asian dishes. Today, I pulled out the take-out menu and looked for items to make (already found yesterdays post, as well). I figured I owed you a pure protein recipe, so here it is! Happy Sunday!
1/2 t ginger, minced
1 clove garlic, chopped
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup water
2 T Brown Sugar Blend Splenda or 1 t Splenda
1/2 lb sirloin steaks, cut against the grain, into 1/4-inch strips
2 T cornstarch
2 large green onions, cut greens into 2-inch strips, chop the whites
red pepper flakes to taste
Add ginger and garlic to a saucepan coated with cooking spray and quickly add soy sauce and water. Add sweetener to pan and let sauce thicken for a few minutes. Remove from heat. Shake meat and cornstarch in a plastic bag until coated and let set for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, heat a skillet sprayed with a bit of cooking spray. Add the meat to the pan and brown each side for a couple of minutes. Add a couple of tablespoons of water and simmer for 2 more minutes. Add the sauce and simmer for another minute, add the green onions and red pepper flakes and cook for one last minute. Serve immediately.
