Italian Pot Roast
I’m not kidding when I say it took me 10 minutes to get this covered and cooking. This is a no-brainer. Brown the meat, pour in the rest of the ingredients and be patient. Good things are worth waiting for. (Or just cut off a few little bites when you just don’t have the willpower!)
ITALIAN POT ROAST
1 2-3 lb top sirloin, cut into 4 or 5 large pieces
2 T red wine
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 T dried parsley
1 t dried oregano
2 T dried basil
1/2 t onion powder
1 cup beef broth
8 oz tomato sauce
salt and red pepper flakes
In a large Dutch oven over medium high heat, sear both of sides of the top sirloin pieces in a bit of cooking oil until all sides are browned. Add the garlic and the red wine. Let cook for 1 minute. Season the meat with salt and pepper and add all the rest of the seasonings. Pour the tomato sauce and broth over the meat and bring to a boil. Turn down to a simmer and cover. Cook for at least 2 hours. Shred the meat with 2 forks and enjoy!!

Mmmm does this ever sound good. Now I will have to try it. With all your good recipes, I never have to make the same thing very often. Thanks
unfortunately i don’t get to make them again either!! and i really love some of them!!! Enjoy
I do not have a dutch oven – do you think I could bake it at medium heat instead?
sorry, a dutch oven is a cast iron dish, like Le Creuset, that you can cook on the stovetop or in the oven. I’m sure any heavy pot will do. yes, at medium–325 or so in the oven is perfect.
janice~can u put a Le Creuset pot in oven with the round handle on top?
yes! they are the best!!
Hi Janice
This recipe looks YUMMY, but it says to add 2T RED WINE, however, I thought we are not allowed any alcohol on Dukan?
Many thanks in advance for your reply
Bonny xx
you can cook with wine. i’d say up to a quarter of a cup. you cook off the bad stuff–(natural sugars)
What tomato sauce are you using on a PP day?
my bad! thank you for pointing that out! i have corrected the tags.
