1/2 lb flank steak, cut against the grain with the side of the knife, into 2-inch thin pieces
Cutting your steak like this makes it quite tender. If you cut it the opposite direction you’ll have the fat running straight through your piece of meat and you’ll be chewing for quite a while. Remember to cut against the grain.
3 green onion, cut into 2-inch pieces, greens only
1/2 t fresh ginger, minced
1 clove garlic, minced
3 T low sodium soy sauce
3 T water
1 T brown sugar sweetener
1 t cornstarch
Having all your ingredients ready is the way to go. This makes the dish cook in the right time and you’re not scrambling in the kitchen for everything you need.
Once your meat is cut place your skillet over medium-high heat. You’re going to want to cook this quickly. Mix all the ingredients from the ginger down to the cornstarch in a small bowl. Throw half the meat in the pan and cook about 1 minute per side. Remove meat and cook the other half. Remove. Pour soy sauce mixture into pan and simmer for a minute. Add meat and onions and cook for 2-3 minutes to reheat meat and thicken the sauce. Serve immediately.
