Asian Sticky Chicken
Simple, very few ingredients, and incredibly tasty. The perfect Pure Protein day recipe. I could’ve eaten this all day, I just didn’t make enough!
ASIAN STICKY CHICKEN
8 skinless, boneless chicken thighs or chicken tenders
3 T balsamic vinegar
3 T low sodium soy sauce
1 t Splenda or (2 T Brown Sugar Blend Splenda or 3 T honey Consolidation)
2 t chili paste
In a skillet with a bit of cooking spray, brown both sides of your chicken. Chicken thighs should probably cook for 5 minutes a side, chicken tenders for about 3. While you’re doing that, combine the rest of the ingredients in a saucepan, bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes, or until it thickens. After your chicken has browned, add the sauce to the skillet and cook for another 5-10 minutes for thighs, 5-7 minutes for tenders, or until chicken is fully cooked. Voila. It’s that simple!

that looks ridiculous. like the tequila lime chicken, i think it was…delish
it was really tasty. i’m going to post another video tomorrow for lemon rosemary chicken that was even better!!
This looks fabulous! I can’t wait to try it! Where will I find chili paste in the grocery store? That’s not an ingredient I’ve cooked with before.
usually in the asian food section. sometimes it’s chili garlic paste. they’re both fabulous!
Made for supper and it was AWESOME! thank you!!!
This was fantastic! My husband and son LOVED this! There wasn’t any for leftovers.
i was sorry i didn’t make more myself!!
I made this same sauce last night and poured it over pan-seared salmon. Sooo good! I did, however, accidentally use too much chili paste, so after I ate, I had to go look in the mirror to see if my tongue was either on fire or bleeding! LOL! You would think that someone who has published a cookbook would pay more attention and see TEASPOONS instead of tablespoons! LOL
share with me what your cookbook is!! glad you liked the chicken!
Visually, this didn’t turn out the way I would have hoped. For one, it’s hard to brown chicken thighs because they tend to spring water, making it difficult to brown. Same with chicken breasts. The sauce cooked way too quickly and stuck to the pan and when I poured it out, only PART of the chicken was covered. I’m going to try it again and probably increase the amounts of each ingredient and report back. It was still good though.
bummer! i hope it turns out better next time. you’re not using a non-stick skillet are you? they definitely won’t brown anything. they’re mostly for cooking eggs. just a thought if you were.
Nope. I don’t cook with non-stick anything. I’m a stainless steel man! LOL But I did make the recipe again and used more of the ingredients which helped a lot. The chicken still didn’t brown to my satisfaction, though. But I had more sauce and that helped.
well, that’s good!
I loved this – I used boneless skinless thigh meat. I cooked the meat in 2 sets and cut the meat into pieces before finishing. Tastes too good to be diet food! Even my husband loved it, and wanted to eat all the leftovers the next day.
i only usually cook about half the recipe I write because i sometimes make two dishes in a night. this was one of those night when i wished i had made the whole recipe!!
This is so easy and so good. It is spicy so it is not the timid. I use 3t of chili garlic paste for mine and one for my wife. I make extra just to have on hand…if I see one more plain grilled chicken breast I am gonna scream. Thanks for this quick and easy fix.
i was quite sick of chicken myself. the last few chicken posts have helped me a lot!!
OMG, can you believe I never made these before? I loved them. It was soooooo easy and sooooo good. thank you Janice. I used tenders and they were perfect. I saved a few for tomorrow, but that was not easy to do. I wanted to eat all of them
oh my!! i should repost that recipe for all those who missed it. they are wooooooonderful!!
did you ever make these? http://dukanitout.com/asian-sweet-and-spicy-chicken-tenders/
During making this chicken for the first time tonight, my son called and said he was coming to our house and was I making dinner by any chance?! I said yes, but it’s “diet food” and you won’t like it. He brought a subway sandwich, ate it, and then polished off what was left of the chicken. He said if that’s diet food, I want to be on this diet!! Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into this! Trying margherita pizza tomorrow!
that’s one of my favorites! i need to make it tonight as a matter of fact!
