So the battle continues and today we’re in our 50th day of the Dukan Diet! And I know I can reach my goal and I look forward to the Consolidation Phase. OK, not only will we be able to eat pizza and drink wine again but I am going to show myself and all of you that it was possible. And so it is for you! Once I started this diet I knew I was going to do it. I guess I had an easier time sticking to this one.
A few things helped. First, writing this website and having a place to go to vent about what I thought I was missing. Second, dieting with a partner really helped and third, sticking to the foods that were allowed wasn’t that hard once I became a bit more creative with them. I also found some products to help me along the way that I had never tried before or never used this way before. I’ve listed some of these things before but I thought I’d go over some of the them again that helped my success so far…
First, thank god for being allowed to eat Oat Bran.
Being creative with it helped even more. I didn’t have any problem with adding it as a daily routine, I just didn’t like the way I was doing it. Sprinkling it on my yogurt was tough because yogurt for me wasn’t something I ate every day and getting used to that was enough in itself. Now I eat two little Oat Bran Pancakes a lot of mornings. And I use a small bit of sugar-free maple syrup. I look forward to the Consolidation Phase where I can eliminate some of the chemicals that I’ve added to my diet found in some of the sugar-free products I’ve been using, and just use a little fresh fruit. But until then, I’m sticking to my syrup. Figuring out how to make pizza crust, flatbread, wraps and tortillas was just icing on the cake. I won’t have any problem working Oat Bran into my everyday life well after the diet is over.
My second great discovery was the tofu noodles that I’ve been experimenting with. I don’t think anyone wants to live without eating bread and pasta. But I also don’t want to go back to some of the bad habits I had either. This diet has forced me to rethink what’s important to me. And eating tasty, unhealthy food isn’t. Eating tasty, healthy food is though.
I’ve always used olive oil spray and anyone who cares about how much fat they intake would tell you that you don’t need all that oil that people cook with. And olive oil isn’t better for you than any other fat once you heat it. You lose the dietary advantages once the oil reaches a certain temperature. Many, many recipes are great without all that fat. Try using a little spray or replacing oil with chicken broth. It’s way more flavorful and your heart will thank you for it.
I guess today was just a little check-in to keep everyone pumped about losing weight and cooking awesome tasting food! Keep it up–if we can do it, you can for sure!
